SMARTS Overview Video: Goal Setting

If you ask students about their personal goals, you may hear a wide range of responses. “I want to be a basketball player.” “I want to be a pirate.” “I want to be a good student.” “I don’t know, leave me alone!”

Learning how to set achievable goals is critically important for students both in school and in life. We think this skill is so important that we have devoted unit 2 of the SMARTS curriculum to goal setting. In this video,  I will walk you through how we approach teaching goal setting in the SMARTS Online curriculum. I’ll also give you some tips and tricks that you can use right now to help your students refine their goal setting skills.

If you found this video helpful, check out our other overview videos. At the beginning of every unit I host an overview video that goes over the unit’s theoretical underpinnings, lays out the general shape of the lesson plans, and details some of the common pitfalls that teachers and students can run into. Taking a look at these overview videos can be a good way to get a quick handle on the entire SMARTS curriculum.
