Today we will be looking at videos about working memory:
I love this video! Not only does Peter Doolittle present a clear and concise definition of working memory, he also leads his viewers through a number of exercises to help them understand their own use of working memory.
Lisa Archibald clarifies the distinction between short-term memory and working memory, an area of confusion for many people. (We also have a great explanation of this distinction in SMARTS—take a look at Unit 5 Overview!) Archibald employs a terrific metaphor about books in the library, which I definitely will be using the next time I explain working memory!
This is the fourth in a series of videos about working memory by the University of Bristol. I think this video is the most useful because it clearly lays out strategies for engaging working memory such as rehearsal, grouping, and imagery.
